Petir vulkanik

Petir vulkanik (Inggris= dirty thunderstorm, volcanic lightning) adalah sebuah fenomena cuaca yang terjadi bila petir terbentuk akibat munculnya tiang erupsi.^[1]

Sebuah foto terkenal dari fenomena ini diambil oleh Carlos Gutierrez, terjadi di atas Gunung berapi Chaiten, Chili.^[2] Foto tersebut tersebar luas di internet. Kejadian lain dilaporkan terjadi di Gunung berapi Augustine di Alaska,^[3] dan Gunung berapi Eyjafjallajökull di Iceland.^[4]
